Happy belated new year! Here’s my wrap-up of the last few days of 2015. We got more festive than usual this holiday season, it being Baby Satski’s first. We got a mini Christmas tree and stockings for our fireplace (the one pictured below is our tortoise, Porter’s).We took baby to meet Santa at Macy’s in San Francisco. The traffic getting there and long line were totally worth the end result, a crying picture with Santa. On Christmas Eve we exchanged gifts with Russell’s family. Baby’s present to us was a kitchen mitt that has his hand print and the words “Helping Hand.” He’s still a little suspicious of that Santa Claus guy and his mysterious presents. On Christmas day we flew to LA to be with my side of the family. For the first time in a long time, we had a big family reunion. My cousin posted this picture of what our Christmas’s used to look like when we would get together in our traditional Korean hanboks. This is me. And this is Baby Satski. See any resemblance??
The day after Christmas, we went to Disneyland. Again, dealing with the crowds was worth getting the pictures of baby’s first visit and watching his face during It’s a Small World.
For a more chill day, we went to Venice Beach, starting with brunch at Gjelina, a walk around the canals, and a quick little toe dip in the sea.
We spent a few nights in an AirBNB with my parents, then my sister’s place, then our friend Helen’s. We’re so lucky to have so many good people put us up. Helen showed us around Anaheim and this cute bookish cafe, Ink & Bean. On New Year’s Eve we raged with a bunch of babies. Just kidding, we were home by 8 pm. And on New Year’s Day we paid our respects to our grandmas, ate rice soup, and baby got some cash as part of the tradition of bowing to elders. The best part of the long winter break was getting to spend so much time with Baby. The worst part was waking up at 5 AM with him every day…
