Celebrating the End of 2015

Happy belated new year! Here’s my wrap-up of the last few days of 2015. IMG_0002We got more festive than usual this holiday season, it being Baby Satski’s first. We got a mini Christmas tree and stockings for our fireplace (the one pictured below is our tortoise, Porter’s).IMG_6092IMG_0092We took baby to meet Santa at Macy’s in San Francisco. The traffic getting there and long line were totally worth the end result, a crying picture with Santa. IMG_0309 IMG_0005On Christmas Eve we exchanged gifts with Russell’s family.  IMG_6242Baby’s present to us was a kitchen mitt that has his hand print and the words “Helping Hand.”IMG_0330  IMG_0336 He’s still a little suspicious of that Santa Claus guy and his mysterious presents. IMG_0340 On Christmas day we flew to LA to be with my side of the family.  IMG_0006 For the first time in a long time, we had a big family reunion. Screen shot 2016-01-15 at 9.41.25 PMMy cousin posted this picture of what our Christmas’s used to look like when we would get together in our traditional Korean hanboks. Screen shot 2016-01-15 at 9.42.40 PM This is me. IMG_0136 And this is Baby Satski. See any resemblance??Screen shot 2016-01-22 at 9.26.46 PM

The day after Christmas, we went to Disneyland. Again, dealing with the crowds was worth getting the pictures of baby’s first visit and watching his face during It’s a Small World. 57446170000 IMG_0363  IMG_0146 IMG_0159 IMG_0007 Screen shot 2016-01-15 at 9.43.35 PM IMG_0158

For a more chill day, we went to Venice Beach, starting with brunch at Gjelina, a walk around the canals, and a quick little toe dip in the sea.  IMG_0226 IMG_0207_2 IMG_0487 IMG_0213_2 IMG_0224_2 IMG_0491

We spent a few nights in an AirBNB with my parents, then my sister’s place, then our friend Helen’s. We’re so lucky to have so many good people put us up. Helen showed us around Anaheim and this cute bookish cafe, Ink & BeanIMG_0233 IMG_0244 IMG_0248 On New Year’s Eve we raged with a bunch of babies.  Screen shot 2016-01-22 at 8.54.22 PM Just kidding, we were home by 8 pm. Screen shot 2016-01-22 at 8.55.13 PMAnd on New Year’s Day we paid our respects to our grandmas, ate rice soup, and baby got some cash as part of the tradition of bowing to elders.  IMG_0561 IMG_0272_2The best part of the long winter break was getting to spend so much time with Baby. The worst part was waking up at 5 AM with him every day…

A look back on 2012, 2013, and 2014.
