Chronicle Books recently participated in the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge. Proceeds went to Year Up, an organization that empowers low-income young adults to find professional careers in one year.
I loved our shirts and thought we definitely should have won the t-shirt contest.
Over 12,000 people partook in the challenge. It was surreal seeing so many people in matching shirts making their way to one end of San Francisco. Salesforce alone had over 1,000 employees.
This was my first 5K and I opted for a white bib, a.k.a. I walked the whole thing; I didn’t even attempt a jog.
I don’t know if you can see that clearly, but at the 2-mile mark, my time was 45:26. For some context, the fastest person completed the entire 3.5 miles in 16:09 minutes. Shortly after I walked two miles, I cheated and veered off-course with my co-worker to meet the rest of our team at a bar for beers and burgers. Weak showing I know, but I still had a really good time and enjoyed the beautiful walk with co-workers for a good cause. Maybe next year I’ll run…maybe.
