Labor Day 2014 in Tahoe

My good friend Alex invited a few of us up to her family’s house near Tahoe for Labor Day weekend. It was the perfect way to round out the summer: hiking, eating, and relaxing with friends.

IMG_2145 We drove up early Saturday morning and headed out straight for a hike. 4 miles in to a beautiful rest at a lake, then 4 miles back out. IMG_2148 IMG_2150 10659396_10103435738095123_8344603711882281224_n IMG_2155 IMG_2158 IMG_2160 IMG_2161  IMG_2165 IMG_2167 That night we barbecued up some veggies and salmon and had a feast. We also spent quality time with Alex’s huge and handsome dogs: Apache, Zephyr, and 3-month old pup Shoshone.

I opted to do the latter. IMG_2193 photo-7 The water was freezing! Kirby and I managed to swim for a quick second before scrambling back out. Russell was more successful at staying submerged for a longer time. IMG_2197 IMG_2201 After another big delicious family meal, we spent the rest of the evening relaxing on the porch, enjoying the breeze and the sunset. Thanks so much to Alex and her family for sharing their beautiful home and inspiring lifestyle with us. It was truly the perfect weekend get-away.

  1. That area is so gorgeous in the summertime. We stayed with friends near Donner Pass two summers ago and it was so beautiful and relaxing. You’re lucky to live within weekend getaway distance!
