Day Trip to Yosemite with the Family

A few weeks ago I visited my parents in Central California. My sister and her boyfriend came up from Los Angeles too for the family reunion. We made a day trip to Yosemite, or actually a picnic site just outside of Yosemite since the park is way too crowded at this time of year. While my parents set up for a barbecue “the kids” went on a quick hike on the Lewis Creek Trail. Temperatures were in the high 90s, but we managed to enjoy ourselves on the mostly shaded trail. Then we feasted when we got back to our parents, took naps, and went on another quick little walk with my dad and his new pup, Ocho.

    • You’re welcome! You should try to go back some time soon. I love being able to visit frequently now that my parents are close by. Cheers!

  1. Did you get to the waterfall on the Lewis Creek trail? I’m wondering where you camped? I’ve been along there and have never seen the picnic tables.

    • It was too hot and we had to stop after about an hour, so we didn’t get to the waterfall. We went to a day picnic site just off Highway 41, about 5 miles from the start of the Lewis Creek Trail. After we set up tent, we drove back down to the start of the trail head.

  2. I’ve always wanted to go to Yosemite! We might have some free time during our California trip in January, so we’ve been toying with the idea of visiting a snowy Yosemite.
