Josey Baker Bread

I’ve been baking bread from scratch, thanks to this new cookbook, Josey Baker Bread.

Josey breaks down what seems like an intimidating process, into a very easy-to-follow and gratifying adventure that results in delicious, really delicious bread.

The most difficult part about baking bread is all the waiting time. Overall, the process can take anywhere from 24 hours up to a week! I had to plan my weekend around this baking experiment, but it was well worth it.

The moment of truth when your hard-earned loaf comes out of the oven is pretty exhilarating.

So far, I’ve only tried the most basic recipe and the whole wheat. Both were successes. I’ll let you know how the sourdough goes!

And this was exciting. I got to meet the master baker in the flesh at Chronicle’s book launch party!

I can honestly say this is a life-changing book. What a beautiful thing it is to be able to bake (and eat!) your own hand-made bread.

  1. Perfect timing – I just made a loaf of whole wheat last night for the first time, and I am not looking back. I will have to check into this book! He’s a cutie. Nice job on that gorgeous loaf!
