What Russell Wore, What I Read

On the afternoon of Thanksgiving, we prepped the fire pit outside so we could sit around it later. Here’s Russell chopping the wood for it. And me interrupting him to squeeze an outfit post out of the lovely setting.

What Russell Wore:

  • Norse Projects beanie
  • Ralph Lauren Polo shirt
  • RRL jeans
  • Red Wing boots

What I Read:

  • THE SURRENDERED by Chang-rae Lee. My co-worker pointed it out at our office library, calling it the most depressing book she’s ever read. I was immediately intrigued by the Korean author and the subject matter, the Korean War. The book turned out to be so much more than a sad Korean war story. Though many tears were shed (this was the first time a book’s made me cry within the first chapter). It’s a story of trauma and self-reliance told with unapologetic violence. A huge and accomplished effort by the author to give voice to the grim side of life: casualties of war, people hurting each other, people hurting themselves.
