Dinner at Talde

Today’s post has absolutely nothing to do with books but just a really good recent meal.

Talde in Park Slope, Brooklyn is an Asian fusion restaurant in all the best ways. I cringe at the word fusion because it’s overused so much, but sometimes it’s the most accurate way to describe a place.

Exhibit A: pretzel pork and chive dumplings with spicy mustard at Talde

Pretzel Dumplings with chives. This image via the Nummy List blog because we ate them too fast to take our own picture. All other photos by Russell.  Here’s one of me delightfully devouring one of the dumplings. 1

Chow Fun with braised pork shank and pickled mustard greens 8

Kung Pao Chicken Wings2 Asparagus with something similar to Korean doenjang, but not as good. I liked the vegetables but not the topping, which made this my least favorite dish of the night. 3    Smoked Char Siu Pork Shoulder with peanuts and watermelon 7

Glorious dessert to top off the night, halo halo with Cap’n Crunch cereal. It looks crazy, it tasted crazy, but it was delicious and refreshing. I couldn’t get enough; I only stopped because my stomach was screaming out in pain from being too full. 6

Yum yum!
