Wonderful Wizard of Oz

Have you seen the new Oz the Great and Powerful movie with James Franco, Michelle Williams, and Mila Kunis? It only got a 60% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, so I’m waiting to watch it on Netflix.

But I did see this hilarious interview of Mila Kunis talking about the movie, sort of:

For now, I’m reading the original book. Harper just published this newly illustrated edition, and it’s truly a piece of art.

Here are some spreads so you can see for yourself:

  1. I still really want to see the movie despite its bad revies, mostly because I have a huge crush on James Franco! And that book is gorgeous! Some of those pages would make really co posters for a kids room or a classroom if they were blown up and put on canvas! Xo

  2. I’ll probably wait to see it on Netflix, too. It’s been decades since I’ve read those books, and I must admit, I’m jealous of the lovely illustrated edition! Thanks for sharing a few pictures 🙂

  3. These illustrations are great! I thought the movie was fun! Scott wasn’t a huge fan because he didn’t like James Franco/his character, but I get completely wrapped up in the story and visuals. I’m also a fan of Wicked (the book), but have still not seen the musical.

  4. Such a hilarious interview! He went from sweet to a little creepy. I love how Harper is publishing all these really vintage-esque-looking books. They make for wonderful gifts that really stand out at birthday parties, I must say :).
