CHARLOTTE’S WEB, first published in 1952, is a story about a pig named Wilbur and his friendship with a spider named Charlotte. It’s a quintessential classic and it really was one of the very first books I fell in love with. So in starting a blog about books, it seems only right to start with one of the best.

2012 marked the sixtieth anniversary of Charlotte’s Web. In a special edition, Newbery Medal winner Kate DiCamillo wrote this poignant foreword to E. B. White’s beloved book.
