Friday News & Give-Away

by Erynn

Happy Friday! At the end of each week, we’ll be rounding up some interesting book news for you and giving away one of our latest titles. So stay tuned for some free books!

Last week was BEA (Book Expo America) , which is an annual publishing trade show where booksellers, buyers, bloggers, librarians, authors, and other bibliophiles meet to talk about books. Chris Colfer (aka Kurt Hummel on “Glee”) hosted the Children’s Book and Author Breakfast, people got a lot of free books, authors like Veronica Roth signed books, and sales people like me had lots of meetings to sell books. Here are a few quick pictures I snapped.

What Your Bookshelf Says About You to a Date

Thirty Books Everyone Should Read Before They’re Thirty (I’ve only read 11 out of the 30 so I guess I have a busy 2 years ahead of me.)

Are you mourning the season’s end of Mad Men like I am? 10 books to read when Mad Men is over.

A tent that looks like a book. A bit expensive but pretty awesome.

And finally for this week’s give-away…

Technically it’s a book for kids but there’s some pretty serious stuff that goes on in this book that’s appropriate for any age. It’s written by the author of the Animorphs series which I totally grew up reading, did you? THE ONE AND ONLY IVAN  is a sweet and thoughtful story about a silver-back gorilla and a baby elephant. To enter the give-away, comment below with what you’re reading now, or what you want to read, or what you think about the blog so far. We’ll pick a winner randomly.

Good luck and have a lovely weekend!

  1. I always used to be a one book at a time kind of gal, but now I like reading a few at the same time so my book combinations are always changing. Currently I’m reading Autobiography of a Yogi by Yogananda Paramahansa, slowly re-reading Anna Karenina (I think I was too young to appreciate it the first time around), and…. Fifty Shades of Grey :)

  2. I am reading The Great Gatsby, which I somehow missed out on reading during high school and felt it was a book everyone should read at some point. I am also reading Jackie Kennedy’s literary biography, called Reading Jackie: Her Autobiography in Books by William Kuhn. I enjoyed seeing your pictures and coverage of Book Expo America !
